SATURDAY opening hours are to be cut at the Dorset History Centre in Dorchester.
The centre is currently open from 9am to 4.30pm every Saturday, as well as from 9am to 5pm on Tuesdays to Fridays.
However, from next week it will only open on the first and third Saturday of each month.
The centre is run by Dorset County Council, Borough of Poole Council and Bournemouth Borough Council and holds thousands of archives with links to the county’s past.
Sam Johnston, county archivist at Dorset County Council, said: “We are determined to provide access to collections outside of our weekday opening hours.
“By keeping a service two Saturdays a month, visitors can still benefit from a full day’s research.”
