A TEENAGER who was inspired by a friend to take on a sky high charity mission has thanked those who helped him raise £2,000.

Michael Foy, from Wool, celebrated his 16th birthday by taking on a charity sky dive for his best friend Spencer Owen, who suffers from a rare genetic disease called Ataxia Telangiectasia.

The lifelong friends were born within eight minutes of each other at Dorset County Hospital and Michael wanted to mark their birthday by doing something special for his friend.

Michael was accompanied by his friend as he headed to Devon for the skydive.

In a thank you message to his supporters he said: “Very many thanks to all those who kindly sponsored my recent skydive on behalf of my mate Spencer.

“With your help I have raised almost £2,000 which has helped to buy a new mobility scooter.”

Michael’s efforts have inspired a friend to take on his own charity skydive for charity.

Brad Fray, who is also 16 and lives near Lulworth, will be taking the plunge on July 20 to raise funds for McMillan Cancer Support and the Dorset Army Cadet Force for its summer camp.
