ELDERLY people will be getting the chance to share their memories and reminisce thanks to the Dorset Writers’ Network.
Their Pen Pals project has received a grant of £5,250 from the Dorset County Community Fund – a fund managed by Dorset Community Foundation on behalf of Dorset County Council. The idea of Pen Pals is that the writers and volunteers work with elderly people.
A team from DWN will visit care homes and encourage participants to engage in fun activities and word-based games using memorabilia.
They will be encouraged to read favourite texts and after that their memories can be written down for them to share and keep if they like.
Volunteers will receive training and support so that the project can continue after the initial activity sessions have been completed. For more information visit dorsetwritersnetwork.co.uk
