SWINDON Spitfires will be playing South West Women’s League Premier Division football next season.

The Spits finished third in Eastern Division One this term, enough to seal promotion to the top flight for 2013/14.

Spitfires manager Paul Martin said: “This caps a fantastic season for Spitfires, a vast improvement on the second-from-bottom finish the previous year and shows the club is progressing in the right direction.

“Having beaten the two teams above us during the season the promotion is fully-deserved and we look forward to performing at the higher level next season.”

The Spits recently held their end of season presentation evening with over 250 players and supporters in attendance as the club celebrated a remarkable season that saw two league champions, one runner-up and two cup winners.
