One of Truro’s most loved spaces could well be getting a facelift in the near future; and the group behind the plans are asking everyone to get involved

Friends of Boscawen Park aim to improve the play spaces within the park and are holding an engagement day at the park on Saturday June 15 to find out what members of the community would like to see there.

Chairperson for the group, Heidi Morgan said: “Almost every parent and child in Truro has used Boscawen Park at some point.

“It’s an incredible space but people have been saying for a while that some of the play equipment is a bit tired.

“There is a real desire to update the facilities and Friends of Boscawen Park has come together to make this happen.

“We don’t have all of the answers, we want everyone to get involved, to help us to shape the park for the future.”

The event, which starts at 10am, will have interactive spaces for children and grown ups to share their experiences of the park and to suggest ways to improve it.

In addition to giving feedback children will be able to join in with a range of activities including junk modelling and bouncy castles.

“We want everyone to tell us what they currently love about the park, how they would shape the green spaces and even build models of play equipment that they would like to see.” Added Heidi.

“It should be a great day for the family and the information that we gather will help us to start to come up with an action plan.

“The group is researching grant funding at the moment and we hope to be able to start creating the space that the people of Truro would like to see within 18 months.”

Friends of Boscawen Park have set a Facebook page up, www.facebook.com/boscawenpark and anyone is welcome to join the page and come up with ideas.
