SIGN up to a new social media campaign and help promote the work of Dorset’s RNLI.

The #SaveWave aims to share the rescue stories of the RNLI lifeboat and beach lifeguards through social media like Facebook and Twitter.

People can sign up on the RNLI’s website and then two rescue stories a week will be shared on their Facebook and Twitter accounts automatically.

The idea is to create ‘waves’ of awareness about the work of the lifesavers.

The more people that sign up the bigger the ‘waves’ will be.

Dave Turnbull the mechanic at Swanage lifeboat station, is backing the campaign.

He said: “This campaign is all about sharing our rescue stories with the public.

“As a member of the crew at Swanage, I’ve got lots of stories about our volunteers putting themselves in harm’s way to save lives at sea.

“Just like our lifeguards will have countless stories of how they’ve kept people safe on our beaches.”

He added: “But through the #SaveWave campaign, we want members of the public to hear about the rescue stories that are taking place all the time by our lifeboat crews and lifeguards.

“We want to create a wave of exposure that will lead to more donations.”

The campaign is running now until Sunday, September 29.
