Abandoned dinghy sparks search in Weymouth Bay
COASTGUARDS launched a search this morning after an abandoned dinghy was found in Weymouth Bay.
A vessel returning to the resort from Cowes reported the finding at around 7am this morning.
The search was called off several hours later after a yacht called coastguards to report that its dinghy had come loose.
A spokesman for Portland Coastguard said: "In this case it's all's well that ends well but it is obviously a bit of a worry when you find an abandoned tender like that, because someone may have fallen out."
