THE former home of Dorset poet William Barnes has been recognised with a plaque, right.
The plaque marking the time Barnes lived at Old Came Rectory from 1862 to 1886 was unveiled by chairman of the William Barnes Society Dr Alan Chedzoy at an informal ceremony.
The event was also attended by members of the William Barnes Society including Warren Davis, who is co-owner of Old Came Rectory, along with Philip Leach and who was made vice-chairman of the society.
The plaque, made of Portland stone, was crafted by Grassby and Sons undertakers, which made the William Barnes memorial stone at his parish church at Came House.
The owners of Old Came Rectory have plans to make the grounds of Old Came Rectory more available to visitors in the future by taking part in the Hardy Country Walks scheme.
