A PRISONER has been told to sort his life out after being convicted of another serious offence.

Daniel Williams, aged 26, is a serving prisoner at The Verne Prison on Portland.

Dorchester Crown Court heard how Williams assaulted another inmate, knocking out some of his teeth in an attack.

Williams, who has 19 convictions for 40 offences, was found guilty by a jury of actual bodily harm.

Sentencing him to 26 weeks consecutive to his current sentence, Judge Roger Jarvis asked Williams if this was how he really wanted to spend his life.

He told Williams that since 2006 he has been sentenced to a sum of nine years and six months imprisonment – although only half of every sentence is served under the early release programme.

But he added: “Really, is this your life plan?

“Is this what you see for yourself in the future?

“A young man going back and back to prison for long periods of time?

“Behind your back others thinking you are a bully?”

He added: “You make the job of the prison officers the more difficult because of the need for them to deal with and address this sort of bad behaviour.”
