AUTHORS Jackie Burgoyne and Sandy Hashimi read excerpts from their latest anthology at the Weymouth Memory Café.

They recited poems and stories from Still Me, which has a forward written by actor and writer Julian Fellowes.

The cafe is run by the Alzheimer’s Society at The Salvation Army hall in Westham Road.

A group of authors from an Open University creative writing course decided to publish the book containing stories about the ways in which dementia can affect us all.

More than 800,000 people nationwide have a diagnosis of dementia. In Weymouth and Portland there are 1,078.

Jackie and Sandy hope the book will raise awareness of the condition and have donated all the profits to the Alzheimer’s Society.

Anyone interested in buying the book can call the Alzheimer’s Society office on 01305 259740.
