KIMMERIDGE coastguards and Dorset firefighters received a 999 call from a man whose motor cruiser became water-logged.

They 32ft boat, which was alongside at Wareham, was taking on large amounts of water yesterday evening.

Firefighters used a hose to pump water out and a split hose was identified and repaired.

A child’s inflatable rubber ring was found floating in Weymouth Bay by a local vessel.

Coastguards were contacted at 12.55pm yesterday and after Weymouth lifeguards recovered the ring, it was established that it had blown off Weymouth beach.

The ring was re-united with its owner.

Portland coastguards received a 999 call yesterday evening from a member of the public who was concerned for a small inflatable boat with two people on board that appeared to be unable to restart its engine off Boscombe Pier.

Mudeford RNLI found that the people on board were fishing and did not require help.
