ALTHOUGH it’s only a short stroll downstairs from the Daily Echo offices, it’s been a while since I’ve visited The Print Room.

For even though it is one of the best venues in Bournemouth, it has been a bit hit and miss in the past in terms of service and value for money.

But that’s old news now, because this place is clearly on the up. It now boasts 2AA Rosettes and has just been listed in the 2014 edition of The Good Food Guide.

I’d also heard good things about its new Sunday roast and brunch menu, so my partner and I decided to check it out.

We were given a warm welcome on arrival and shown to our table in the middle of the restaurant which has had a makeover since we were last here.

Some of the central booths have been removed, which makes it feel more open and there is an array of art on the walls.

There was a big screen showing a classic children’s film without audio in the centre and a live acoustic guitarist, which added to the atmosphere.

Nothing was too much trouble for our waitress, who hailed from California.

I had the whole roast chicken, which was served with a jug of gravy, a large Yorkshire pudding and a bowl of the most delicious bread sauce I’ve ever tasted.

Our selection of seasonal vegetables were served in cast iron pots including a colourful array of cauliflower, green and purple broccoli topped with grilled cheese, some green beans mixed with sprouting broccoli, peas and chantenay carrots and dish of perfectly roasted potatoes.

My husband had the trio of roasts, which included half a chicken. He was bit concerned that the beef was too rare for his taste at first but he still enjoyed it.

There was plenty of food so for dessert, we shared a wedge of treacle tart which was served warm, topped with coconut cream and two raspberries.

The quality and presentation of each dish was excellent. If you are looking for a really special Sunday lunch, this place is definitely worth a visit.
