GARDENING enthusiasts are being thanked for their generosity, having already donated to the Echo Christmas Toy Appeal this year.

Goulds Garden Centre in Littlemoor, Weymouth, is backing the toy appeal once again, and a wide variety of toys have already been dropped into the store’s appeal bin.

The gardening store has backed the appeal for more than five years.

Last year thousands of brand new toys were donated to underprivileged children across Dorset to unwrap on Christmas Day.

We hope that this year even more will be donated to help local needy youngsters.

Store manager Anthony Gould said: “Being a local independent business, we are keen to support local causes like this and the Toy Appeal is just brilliant.

“We would like to thank our customers for their support in donating to the appeal in recent years and we would love them to keep on giving, because it really makes all the difference at Christmas.

“This year, we have already had donations, such as soft toys and board games, which is fantastic given the short time we have had the collection bin here.

“We’re thinking of moving our collection bin to the toy aisle so that shoppers can buy a toy and drop it in, as well as bringing in new toys from outside the store.”

Toys can be donated to appeal bins in shops and businesses across the area.

Shoppers can drop something in when they are doing their Christmas shopping and the appeal is also looking for businesses willing to donate £100, which will top up the funds raised by the appeal and ensure every child, who has signed up receives a gift at Christmas.

All the gifts collected will go to children who may have been suffering abuse, neglect, be living in refuges with their mothers or may be in the care of families who cannot afford to buy them something special for Christmas.

Both Echo offices in Weymouth and Dorchester are also accepting donations.

n We are looking for 30 businesses to donate £100 each for our appeal.

Each donation is gratefully received and all those donating £100 will be featured in the Dorset Echo.
