EXPERIMENTATION resulted in a remarkable image for a Weymouth photographer whose work features in our latest photographic book.

Brian Crump’s image of the lights from the fairground ride next to Weymouth Pavilion, taken earlier this summer, features in the Echo publication Dorset: A Photographic Journey Through Towns and Villages.

He used a three second exposure to make the ferris wheel look like a continuous disc of light.

The 46-year-old from Weymouth said: “I was down there for some fireworks and they had the playground in front of the Pavilion so I thought I would try a few time exposures and I experimented a bit.

“I thought it looked a bit different and quirky, and I was quite pleased with how it looked.”

Another of Mr Crump’s published images shows the Olympic rings on Portland with a view over Chesil Beach.

He said he was in the area on an evening in May and was so struck by the sunset that he stopped to take a few photos.

Mr Crump said: “I thought I would stop at the Olympic rings and take some pictures and I tried from a lot of different positions.”

He said he was really pleased to see his images printed in the book and was impressed with the overall standard of the photographs in the 176-page volume.

Mr Crump, who does wedding and event photography in his spare time, said: “It’s a very nice photo book and there are some very good pictures in there.”

As well as pictures taken by talented amateur photographers and readers like Brian, it also features photographs taken by our staff photographers at the Dorset Echo and Daily Echo.
