TV chef James Martin has awarded a youngster from Leweston School in Sherborne third prize in the Red Tractor beef and lamb Make it with Mince Challenge 2013 Bristol regional heats.
Megan Rowe gained an accomplished third prize after wowing the judges with her cheesy, leek-topped shepherd’s pie dish.
Her classmate Freya Logan was also awarded Highly Commended with her Nepalese keema with paratha dish.
The main aim of the challenge is to inspire young people to get hands-on cooking experience.
It also aims to educate children about the importance of good nutrition and quality ingredients.
