FRIENDS of a young Portland man who died in a car crash are holding a music event tomorrow to ‘carry on something he always loved’.

Aidan Williams-Martin, 24, tragically died in a car crash on the island in October.

The former Royal Manor pupil has been described as a ‘genuine’ man with a ‘heart of gold’.

Friends and family celebrated Aidan’s life at the Ocean Room at Weymouth Pavilion late last month.

Now two friends of Aidan, Daniel Collinz and Kit Sarginson, who are both 22, will also be hosting the DJ and music evening from 7.30pm tomorrow until 4.30am on Saturday – to celebrate the life of Aidan and support his family by raising money for them.

Mr Collinz said: “Aidan was my best friend because he enjoyed live music events and DJ sets as much as I do, and we used to go often.

“I wanted to do something to support his family at this time because nobody should have to lose their son at such a young age.

“Kit and I wanted to continue something that Aidan had always loved to do – so we would encourage anyone who can to pop down, see some local live bands and DJs and donate what they wish.

“There will be ten local bands, all of which have at least one member that knew Aidan, and some of the DJs who have offered to play for free me and Aidan used to go and see together.

“Aidan’s sister and family are happy we are holding the evening and have said a big thank you to us.”

There is a £3 entry fee to the event at Weymouth Bars and Malibu complex, on the Esplanade, and there will also be donation pots throughout the venue on the night.

Bands such as As Flames Rise, Without Consent and End of Daze will be performing together with DJ acts The Executioners, Tekno Bear and Magpie.

Steve Parker, director at Weymouth Bars, said: “Aidan was a well-known and very well-loved person.

“It’s tremendous that his friends are going to great lengths to help his family and keep his memory alive.”

Last month, family and friends got tattooed in memory of Aidan.
