REPORTS of a van on fire at the Granby Industrial Estate in Weymouth turned out to be a false alarm.
Crews were alerted to Hampshire Road near the Dorset Echo offices.
The van was said to be smoking but firefighters said it was a false alarm.
Speaking on scene, a Dorset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted to a report of a large vehicle on fire at 4.04pm.
“The standard response for a large vehicle on fire is two fire engines. On arrival we realised that is was a van with a smoking engine and so therefore a false alarm.
“We believe the van turbo had broken resulting in smoke emitting from the engine. We advised the van owner to arrange recovery of his vehicle.”
