LOCAL youngsters are being asked to get their Christmas thinking caps on to bring extra glitter to the festive season in Bridport.

The town’s Christmas Cheer committee has launched a competition for children to design a special Christmas tree decoration.

As part of the Christmas festival, to be held on Wednesday December 4, prizes of book tokens are up for grabs.

There are no size restrictions but the decoration needs to be able to hang from a tree.

There are two age categories of eight years and under and nine and above. Every decoration should have the entrant’s name, age and contact number attached.

All the entries received will be displayed in the Bridport Tourist Information Centre.

The winning design will be placed on the Christmas tree in Bucky Doo Square on the day of the festival.

Entries will be judged by Bridport Mayor Maggie Ray.

They must be delivered to the TIC in Bucky Doo Square no later than noon on Saturday, November 30.

Bridport Christmas Cheer is organised by the Cheer Committee, made up from local volunteers.

Christmas Cheer will start at 4pm and continue until 8pm at locations around the town.
