I would like, through the letters page, to say a big thank you to the members of The Royal British Legion Portland Golf Society and in particular to Mike Fox who organises everything.
Throughout each year the society runs events including a charity golf day at Weymouth Golf Club and have been doing so for the past thirteen years, raising a total so far of £27,000.
The monies raised are distributed to local good causes such as Sea Cadets (TS Penn), St John Ambulance (Portland), DCH Intensive Care and others, as well as national charities such as Help for Heroes, RBL Poppy appeal, RNLI and BLESMA (British Limbless Ex-Service Men’s Association) who I represent locally.
I am sure that I speak for everyone who has been helped by Mike and the golf society when I say thank you and keep up the good work, it is appreciated.
Brendan Snoddy Branch Secretary Bournemouth & District Branch BLESMA
