BUSINESSES are showing their support for Weymouth’s revived Victorian Shownight.

The Shownight event organisers have secured Portland’s Pennsylvania Castle as gold sponsor for the town centre festive extravaganza, which is on Friday, December 6 Castle manager Jo Peters said: “We are really excited to be accepted as Gold Sponsor for Victorian Shownight and to work alongside other local businesses also sponsoring what is to be a memorable event.” Silver sponsors include the Sealife Park and Dream Cottages.

The Best Dressed Christmas Window Competition will be sponsored by the Weymouth and Portland Chamber of Commerce.

There will also be free parking in Weymouth from 3pm in the council-run town centre car parks.

Many shops will be opening until late and holding special events such as the Chalbury Food & Wine store, which will be offering free samples and reduced port and cheese selections.

Weymouth Fencing and Sheds is creating the Christmas Grotto, Fiona Penny of Sunflowers will be dressing the grotto and Henri Lloyd will be running a competition to win £500. The Weymouth Community Volunteers will be welcoming visitors whilst keeping the crowds under control and acting as Shownight Ambassadors.

The event starts at 3pm and ends at 9pm.
