MORE people with disabilities can take the plunge after investment at a Dorset leisure centre.
Funding from the Dorset County Council Short Break Capital Grant Scheme has enabled the installation of hoists in the indoor pool and changing areas at Purbeck Sports Centre in Wareham.
The hoists are available for wheelchair and non-weight-bearing users during all public swimming sessions.
Social Issues spokesman for Purbeck District Council, Ali Patrick, said: “We want more disabled people to enjoy the benefits of swimming and these modern, lightweight and easy-to-use lifts make access much easier.
“Swimming improves health and mobility for disabled people and we hope they enjoy participating in this fun activity.”
Qualified lifeguards supervise in the pool.
