A SWAN caused traffic chaos after it ventured onto the A35 close to Puddletown.
The bird was reported to the police by Dorset Fire and Rescue Service after it strayed onto the A35 Puddletown bypass, east bound carriageway at the Northbrook junction at 1.22pm.
Police said that it had caused ‘quite a lot of traffic problems,’ and had subsequently been hit by a car and died.
Officers said the person involved in the collision was not injured.
A rolling road block was put in place to remove the swan safely by 1.40pm.
