YOU have just today and tomorrow to catch Bridport Pantomime Players’ fantastic 49th panto Sleeping Beauty.

The traditional fairytale transports the audience to a Medieval time period where immortal good fairy Lilac, played by Teresa Grinter, tries to keep the villainous bad witch Hazel, played by Amy Wheatley, from casting her evil across the kingdom.

The four glittering rainbow fairies, played by Amber Palfreyman, Tilly Boulay, Tara Grinter and Sarah Williams, assist good fairy Lilac.

King Cactus, played by the talented Roy Bowskill and the decorous Queen Marigold, played by Jess Ives, are delighted at the birth of their daughter Princess Rose played by Emily Deer, but bad witch Hazel has her own designs on the destiny of the innocent Princess involving the infamous spinning wheel, and it seems her evil is too powerful to stop.

Nursemaid to the Princess, Dottie Dettol, played by an enthusiastic Anthony Steventon, does her best to protect Rose whilst still finding the time to interact and joke with the audience as only a Dame can.

Muddles, the clumsy palace handyman played by Ziggy Gray, is the Simple Simon of the piece and alongside Fetch, played by experienced Sue Farrant and Carrie played by comical Tracy Caden, the palace messengers, will keep the audience on their toes with a barrage of jokes.

The hero of the piece, dashing Prince Alexis, is played by Amy Day, who also plays his own great grandson Prince Alexander.

Sleeping Beauty will be performed today and tomorrow at 7.30pm with a Saturday matinee at 2pm at Bridport’s Electric Palace.

Tickets are on sale at the Bridport Tourist Information Centre, adults £8/child (under 12) £6. Call 01308 424901.
