PLANNERS have approved phase two of a £14m extension to Weymouth’s Granby Industrial Estate.

It will consist of seven more units, measuring between 1,500sq ft and 2,500sq ft, at the newly-built 10-acre Link Park.

Developer DJ Property says the second phase will include units of ‘market leading quality’ with plenty of parking and be visible from the busy Chickerell Link Road.

They are hoping to attract small to medium local businesses that are looking to expand in a new commercial space as well as creating more local jobs.

The site will be situated next to phase one of the development which includes occupiers Screwfix, Topps Tiles, Toolstation, Euro Car Parts and Halfords.

Mickey Jones, chief executive of DJ Property, said: “Almost 100 per cent of the units on the Granby Industrial Estate, Lynch Lane Industrial Estate and Link Park are currently occupied, which is the highest level in the past six years. We are entering a period of strong business growth and dev-elopment after some quieter years and local businesses are demanding high quality business space for expansion. The next phase of development at Link Park will be seven high quality business units, which will benefit from their close proximity to the many national trade counters already in situ at Link Park. “Having such strong national brands occupying Phase one with be a huge benefit to the local business choosing Phase two.

“Phase two of Link Park will create many new jobs when fully occupied. “I am really excited about how Link Park is developing into a premier business location.” Construction at the site will begin within the next few weeks and the units should be ready for occupation by late summer.
