WAR stories are being sought to be broadcast on Bridport’s community radio station.
To mark the centenary of the start of World War I, Bridport Arts Centre’s Bridport FM will be running a week of special themed radio programmes from September 15 to 21.
Called Lest We Forget, the shows will form part of the Heritage Lottery funded radio project.
Hosted by Philip Ringer, the nightly show will be broadcast between 7pm and 8pm, Monday to Friday, and will discuss many aspects of the Great War and include music, poetry and extracts from letters and diaries.
Now a call has gone out for local people to come forward with their personal stories. Their anecdotes and recollections could be the involvement of a family member, memorabilia, or stories that have been passed down through their family.
Presenter Philip Ringer said: “We are keen to talk to anyone with a story to tell about any aspect of World War I.
“The programme has a very broad remit and we want to present a wide range of experiences from lots of different people to create a vivid picture for our listeners.”
Anyone who would like to be involved, is asked to get in touch with Philip at philipringer @aol.com or contact Kate Wilson at Bridport Arts Centre on 01308 427183.
