WEYMOUTH College has received praise in recognition of its commitment to young people in and leaving care.

The college has been awarded the Buttle UK Quality Mark which is given to institutions that commit to support a young person who has been in care, to access further and higher education and successfully complete their studies and achieve their ambitions. Dorset county councillor and cabinet member for education Toni Coombs will present the award on Monday.

Weymouth College is the first college or university in Dorset to receive the award.

Buttle UK Quality Mark manager, Susan Mueller, said: “We are very pleased with the success of this award and are delighted to extend it to Weymouth College.”
