FIREFIGHTERS helped free an elderly woman from a car after a collision on the A35 near Winterbourne Abbas this morning.

Dorset Fire and Rescue Service received reports of two people trapped in a vehicle following the single-vehicle collision at around 9.30am today.

Two retained crews from Dorchester attended and on arrival found an elderly woman was medically trapped in the car.

They assisted paramedics at the scene, enabling them to gain access to the vehicle and release the casualty.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said that no injuries were reported and the vehicle involved was a Mazda MX-5 registered to a Bournemouth woman.
