A MOTORIST escaped without serious injuries after ending up wedged between a signpost and a building in Dorchester this afternoon.
Former Mayor of Dorchester Les Phillips said he was swerving to avoid a collision with another car that braked suddenly when his vehicle left the road on High West Street and ended up jammed between the Lloyds Bank building and a signpost.
Police attended the scene and arranged for Mr Phillips’ vehicle to be towed.
He was checked over by paramedics but insisted he was fine.
Mr Phillips said: “I was coming up the high street and the car in front braked suddenly, I thought I was going to hit him so I mounted the pavement and ended up here.
“I’m perfectly alright.”
