Get in the swing for a Jurassic Coast charity tournament

Those keen to tee off will be raising much-needed funds for the RNLI.

The tournament will take place on three different golf courses along Dorset’s Jurassic Coast in September 2014.

The Golf Paris Tournament will be played across three days, starting on September 21 with registration and a champagne reception before all the action starts at Came Down Golf Club, near Dorchester.

The following day the tension will build at Lyme Regis Golf Club, before the final showdown at Bridport and West Dorset Golf Club as golfers battle their way to be crowned winner.

The tournament also encompasses four nights bed and breakfast accommodation at the Riviera Hotel in Weymouth with a presentation dinner on the final day.

Peter Foster, one of the tournament organisers and the Swanage RNLI Lifeboat Station Appeal Chairman, said the tournament would be a unique experience and a great chance for golfers to explore the Jurassic Coast.

He added that the event would raise funds to help the RNLI continue its vital life-saving work.

He said: “It promises to be a unique event, providing golfers with a fantastic opportunity to play against the spectacular backdrop of Dorset’s Jurassic coastline.

“It seems entirely appropriate to use the event to raise funds for the volunteer RNLI crew from stations at Lyme Regis, Weymouth and Swanage who help save those in trouble at sea along this very coast.

“The money raised will go towards ensuring that they have training and equipment to be able to continue their lifesaving work.”

Timed to coincide with the Ryder Cup, places are sure to be snapped up quickly and golfers are urged to bag a spot on the green before they are all gone.
