A teenager will be walking over 40 miles to help raise money for cystic fibrosis.

Jack Buckingham, aged 17, from Grange Road, Weymouth, has organised a charity walk starting from his home today at 12pm, and finishing at The Old Harry Rocks, east of Studland, tomorrow.

The 49-mile walk will take him two days to complete, but he says he is looking forward to it, as the chosen charity, Cystic Fibrosis Trust, is very close to his heart.

He said: “My cousin was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis when she was very young and she suffers very badly.”

“I wanted to help raise awareness as not many people donate to the charity or even know what cystic fibrosis is.”

The 17-year-old will be completing the walk with six of his friends, where they will be wearing special T-shirts from the Cystic Fibrosis Trust to help promote the charity.

They will be handing out leaflets along the route as well as carrying charity buckets for donations.
