STORMTROOPERS, Disney characters and even some ponies have been having fun to raise money for a seven-year-old with leukaemia.

Amelia Holt, a Year 2 pupil at St Mary’s Catholic First School, was diagnosed with acute lympho-blastic leukaemia in February.

When parents of other children at her school heard the news, they sprung into action to organise Amelia’s Family Fun Day, raising funds for Amelia’s treatment costs and gaining sponsorship for fellow parent Holly Parkin, who is running the London Marathon for children’s cancer charity Clic Sargeant.

The fun-packed event took place at Lucetta Lane, Dorchester today with performances from The Studio dance school and an ‘animals, birds and bugs’-themed parade, chosen by Amelia.

I hope everyone had a great day and raised funds for poor Amelia but there is something worrying me.......why on earth are the family having to pay for the treatment? Surly the NHS is paying for it..............I know the NHS isn't very flush at the moment but they cant be refusing this little girls treatment or am I missing something like the treatment isn't available in this country or something.
