MORE than £500 has been donated to the Weldmar Hospicecare Trust from the sale of Jurassic Candles on West Bay Day.
Hundreds of people donated money to the hospice in return for candles which were then placed on the pier at West Bay.
People were given the option of writing messages to be placed on the candle.
The candles were lit at 9pm on West Bay Day. Organisers including West Dorset District Councillor Gilliam Summers, harbourmaster James Radcliffe and wife Natalie and Reverend Philip Ringer presented a cheque for £501 to Mark Howlett, Weldmar’s Community Fundraiser.
Next year’s West Bay Day will be held on August 2 and proceeds from the Jurassic Candles will again be donated to Weldmar.
