THE ENERGY firm behind a proposed wind farm project near Charminster gave people a chance to air their views at the Dorset County Show.

Broadview Energy Limited, which is planning to submit a planning application for six turbines with a tip height of 115m on agricultural land at Slyers Lane later this month, set up a stand at the show over the weekend and spoke to over 150 people.

The firm said it was encouraged by the ‘overwhelmingly positive’ response to the project.

Development manager Tom Cosgrove said: “The Dorset County Show provided us with another great opportunity to discuss our proposal with a large number of people including local residents and members of the wider West Dorset community.

“We were really pleased to meet so many people who recognise our need for new cleaner electricity generating capacity and are supportive of the project, wanting to see it succeed.

“Once we submit a planning application we would encourage anyone who is in favour to write to West Dorset District Council to show their continued support.

There will be a further chance for people to see the plans and discuss them with members of the Broadview team at two public consultation events on Monday, September 22.

The first is being held at Charminster Village Hall from 1pm to 3.30pm and the second at Herrison Hall in Charlton Down from 5.30pm to 8pm.

Once the planning application is submitted it will be available to view on Broadview’s website, slyerslanewindfarm.co.uk, alongside details of how to submit comments to WDDC.
