A MAN was robbed in a vicious assault on Portland.

A 31-year-old local man was approached by two unknown men when he was walking along the alleyway beside the Co-operative shop on Weston Road.

The two offenders assaulted the victim by punching him in the face and head and kicking him in the back. They then stole his wallet and run off down the alleyway away from Weston Road.

The two offending men are described as about five feet seven inches tall. They were both wearing white trainers and blue jeans.

One of them was wearing a blue coloured hooded top and the other a black coloured hooded top with ‘Animal’ written on the chest and repeated a number of times on the rear of the garment. One of the men also had a green Celtic pattern tattoo on his wrist.

Detective Constable Nick Lavery, of Weymouth CID, said: “I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or has any details about the men responsible as they may recognise the descriptions.

“Anyone with information that could assist my investigation should contact Dorset Police.”

The incident happened between 11pm and 11.30pm on Tuesday, September 2 but police have just released details.
