CHIEF Secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander visited two multi-million pound businesses in Dorset just days ahead of the Liberal Democrat conference.

He was in Annette Brooke’s Mid Dorset and North Poole constituency, accompanied by the MP and prospective Lib Dem parliamentary candidate Vikki Slade. The group toured the cosmetic company Lush’s base on the Nuffield Industrial Estate in Poole and Heatric at Holton Heath, provider of heat exchangers to the global oil and gas industries.

It was a chance to showcase the economy and business opportunities the county has to offer, with both companies having expanded over the last few years to become UK and worldwide export success stories; Lush now has more than 900 stores worldwide.

Mr Alexander praised the “work and commitment of staff”.
