THE JURY is considering its verdict in the trial of a former British Airways pilot from West Dorset charged with child sex offences.

Bartle Frere, 50, from Shipton Gorge, has been standing trial at Bournemouth Crown Court accused of 25 child sex offences. He denies all the charges.

The alleged offences include indecent assault, making and possessing indecent photos, voyeurism and arranging or facilitating the abuse of boys in India.

The prosecution allege that Frere would meet boys on stop-overs as part of his job with British Airways (BA).

Frere was arrested by police on November 10 last year when he arrived back in the country from a flight to Bangkok. A search warrant for Frere’s home was executed by police, who seized 25 storage devices, including computers and mobile phones. It was described by one investigator as the “biggest job” the force had dealt with of its kind.

The jury will continue deliberations from 10am today.
