OFFICERS in West Dorset are still getting reports of residents being targeted by phone scammers. The fraudster says that they are a police officer and then attempts to get bank details from the intended victim.
They said they are based in a police station in London and someone known to the victim has been arrested and has the bank details of the victim in their possession.
The victim is then encouraged to call their bank and change their card, or to move money in to another account.
Anyone who receives such a call should call Dorset Police on 101.
Officers are reminding residents that genuine members of any police force will never ask for personal bank account details.
