A WOMAN who took a trip down the rabbit hole in a competition to promote Weymouth has claimed her prize.

Tracey Snelling is a frequent visitor to the Dorset resort and was among many who took up the invite to take part in the Business Improvement District’s (BID) Alice’s Weymouth Adventure Trail.

It was launched in the spring in an attempt to encourage more locals and visitors into Weymouth, to explore and discover as much as possible.

It is one of the aims of the BID’s business plan to encourage more people into Weymouth for them to enjoy the area and spend money in the town at businesses and attractions.

The Adventure Trail was launched in April at a Dorset Echo-backed Mad Hatter’s Tea Party in St Mary Street, where many Alice in Wonderland characters visited the town and had tea with local children and businesses.

The competition ended last month and Tracey, from Thornton Heath, South London, was declared the lucky winner of an iPad Air tablet computer.

Tracey said: “I am thrilled.

“I used to live in Dorset but now I have a holiday home here and I was able to collect my prize during one of my many visits.

“The trail was excellent and really made you look at the buildings in Weymouth. We did the trail in three sections and some of the questions really made you think.”

Weymouth BID Manager Nigel Reed said: “Alice’s Weymouth Adventure Trail was funded by the Weymouth BID then designed and written by local company Treasure Trails Dorset.

“We have had some great feedback including one grandmother who told us that the trail was so amazing they returned four times with their eight-year-old daughter and they said that the trail was brilliant work and great fun for the school holidays.”

The Weymouth BID will be funding and organising more visitor experiences during the autumn and winter.
