A PORTLAND supermarket is encouraging its customers to make a donation to this year’s Christmas Toy Appeal.

Tesco in Portland has supported the Dorset Echo Christmas Toy Appeal since the shop opened three years ago.

Staff at the store are now asking customers to make any donations they can to help make sure underprivileged children will have a toy to open on Christmas Day.

Community champion Debbie Lindo said: “We are always very happy to help with the toy appeal and we all enjoy taking part in it.

“We are very big on community here, and being on Portland, which is such a small community, helping each other can make such a difference.

“We would really like all our customers to donate whatever they can to our toy bin, which is right at the front of the store.

“Even something little can make such a huge difference to a child at Christmas.”

n How to donate to the toy appeal: We are looking for 30 businesses to donate £100 each for our appeal.

This has been amazingly successful in previous years and has been the main way that the toy appeal has been able to provide so many toys and gifts to needy children.

Each donation is gratefully received and all those donating £100 will be featured in the Echo.
