CREATIVE members of an arts and craft group for people with learning disabilities are inviting people to make a date with their latest collaborative effort.

The East Boro Arts and Crafts Group has been busy creating a 2015 calendar to showcase their work. Each month is illustrated with a painting by one of the group and all proceeds from the calendar will go to charity.

They will first go on sale when the group holds its annual Open Day and Exhibition at the Weymouth Community Fire Station tomorrow between 11am and 2.30pm.

Group supervisor Mel Symes, from East Boro, said: “The group meets twice a week at the fire station and it has grown significantly over the past couple of years, both in numbers and in the quality and complexity of the work produced.

“The guys wanted to do something special this year and so they came up with the idea of doing a calendar.

“Each month has a gorgeous painting which the artist him or herself has created to best represent that month.

“The results are truly stunning and I think people will get a lot of pleasure from seeing one of the calendars hanging on their wall. There are also photographs and details about all the artists too and at just £5.99, it makes both an affordable and lovely Christmas present.”

She added: “I hope people will support the artists’ efforts because all the money raised will go to good local causes.

“It’s been a wonderful project to work on and I congratulate all who took part and say thanks to our printers, Print Shop Express for their help and generosity.”

The Open Day and Exhibition is free to enter and there will be refreshments and a prize raffle available.

As well as being on sale at the event, calendars can also be ordered by contacting Mel on 01305 750403 or 07881 343129.
