BE A good neighbour and help out the elderly in the community.
Age UK across Weymouth, Portland and Dorchester is holding information events about its new Good Neighbour scheme.
The new programme will be part of the existing outreach service where volunteers visit older people living on their own. They help with simple one-off tasks around the home that they are unable to do themselves.
Lisa Holmes, head of care at Age UK Dorchester said: “Our aim is to have a team of volunteer Good Neighbours who can spare a very small amount of time and who we can call on every so often to help. Volunteers can arrange to do the task at a time to suit them.”
