FIVE of the 10 most expensive streets in which to live in South West England are in Poole.

Sandbanks, Lilliput, Canford Cliffs and Branksome Park feature in the list, with Sandbanks Road making it into the top 50 most exclusive streets in England and Wales.

The Sandbanks peninsula has for some time held the boast of being the fourth most expensive place in the world to buy land. However, Sandbanks Road, which runs from the Civic Centre through Lilliput, has come out on top in this survey with an average property price of £2,493,000.

“That does surprise me,” said Adrian Dunford, of Tailor Made estate agents, based on the peninsula. Sandbanks Road is such an eclectic mix of property. It goes from offices and shops to houses and apartments. It does hold the record for the most expensive apartment sold for our area – £3.8million for a penthouse we sold about 18 months ago. It was probably the most expensive apartment sold outside of London in the UK.”

However, there were also apartments selling on the same road for around £200,000, he said.

In the Lloyds Bank survey it was closely followed by Western Avenue at £2,450,000, then Brudenell Avenue at £2,004,000, Haig Avenue where the average property will set you back £1,923,000 and Banks Road at £1,597,000.

Grosvenor Crescent in London tops the list of the most expensive residential streets in England and Wales with an average house price of £16,918,000.
