England, Europe is my home,

It is a country that is very well known.

We have a queen, a language and a flag,

We are the owners of fish and chips in a brown paper bag.

England is a country that delivers something different everyday,

A country that grips you and makes you want to stay!

London is the capital city where many thousands flock,

Sights galore, what better to see than the famous Big Ben clock.

A tour bus will take you to the Tower, Palace and Eye,

Where the big wheel's summit nearly touches the sky.

Theatreland, shows and changing of the guards,

No doubt I'll send you it all on a postcard!

****

Escape the city, leave the mayhem behind,

To the sleepy county of Dorset, where many choose to unwind.

It's a three-hour journey once you've hopped on the train,

That travels to the South, no silly, not to sunny Spain!

You'll soon be arriving in Weymouth home town land,

Where you can soak up the sun, lap up the waves and enjoy the sand!

****

But there's more to Weymouth than the endless golden beach,

That stretches for miles seemingly out of reach.

Families and tourists crowd the many gift shops,

Which line the seafront and sell souvenir lollipops.

Puppet show Punch and Judy perform regularly everyday,

Children sit on the sand and squeal with excitement as they watch and play!

Along the Esplanade spirits are running high,

Though are soon dampened in the crowded arcades when the slot machines read 'have another try'.

A tourist draw has to be the shopping precinct,

Shoppers laden down with armfuls of bags... isn't there a link?

Weymouth has recognised and famous landmarks of its own,

Statue King George III is one made out of stone!

****

A sea cruise setting off from Weymouth harbour will take you to Portland Bill,

Where the picturesque countryside comprises green fields and a steep hill

The red and white-striped lighthouse of the island is a landmark loved by all,

By visitors and residents, the stripy lighthouse stands clear and tall.

There is so much variety in Weymouth, Dorset and London,

Come rain or shine, my England's just fine!
