RUNNERS from across Dorset have raised more than £8,000 for Autism Wessex.
The 10k run at Somerley park earlier this month saw more than 600 runners take part in the event, raising thousands of pounds.
Becky Chalk, community and events fundraiser for Autism Wessex said: “We were delighted to have been inundated with entries again this year.
“I would like to thank everyone who took part as we have now raised more than £8,000 from this event.
“Thanks to Meggitt Plc and Williams Thompson Solicitors for sponsoring the run and helping Autism Wessex to continue supporting those in our community affected by autism.
“I would also like to thank Alton Sports who provided our goody bags and as ever, the event would not have run so smoothly without the support of volunteers and community groups, who we are indebted to for their free help on the crisp winter morning.
“We would encourage anyone keen to take part in one of our runs to sign up for our Summer 10k Run at Moors Valley on Friday June 12 at 7pm.
“There will be a 10k and fun run encouraging all the family to get involved.”
