COUNCILLORS will decide today whether to give the go-ahead to an in-depth review of the under-fire Dorset Waste Partnership.
A request for a scrutiny review of the service being provided in Weymouth and Portland will be considered by the borough council’s Scrutiny and Performance Committee.
The committee will decide whether a review should be conducted and if so, to determine the scope of the review and how it will be carried out.
It follows a barrage of complaints about the roll-out of DWP’s rubbish and recycling service in Weymouth and Portland. There is also concern about the service going massively over budget.
There were calls at a recent full council meeting for the borough council to pull out of the partnership if problems were not sorted.
The request for a scrutiny review has come from mayor Kate Wheller who said: “It’s really to demonstrate to residents that we’re aware of the problems they’re having and we’re as anxious as they are to get things sorted out.”
She added: “I know that some residents are getting a good service and there are only problems in certain areas but we want there to be a uniform standard across all areas.”
