Condor Ferries has announced it is ‘Good Times’ ahead – as it prepares to leave Weymouth for Poole.

The company has revealed an identity makeover in a new branding concept it calls ‘Good Times’ to signify it is looking to the future.

It is positive news for Poole and the Channel Islands – but Weymouth will lose the ferry link after March 24 along with millions from the local economy.

Condor is to operate a single ferry with a larger vessel from Poole this summer to replace ageing vessels. Weymouth and Portland Borough Council does not have the money to make berth improvements to accommodate the new vessel.

Councillors have agreed to recommendations which will see operations wind down at the port.

The council is examining ways to ‘redefine’ the use of the port and make savings due to Condor pulling out. The future of the port area is to be included in the forthcoming town centre masterplan.

Chairman of the Weymouth Hoteliers, Guesthouses and Leaseholders Association Dave Price said members had not seen a huge amount of business from Condor over the past year due to ‘unsociable’ sailing times.

He added: “Passengers only tend to stay locally for one night anyway so I don’t think we’ll lose out that much.

“It’s a shame it’s going but we bit the bullet when Condor pulled out for 18 months and I think we’ll recover from this.”

Condor has announced a ‘new era in sea travel’ with its identity makeover.

With the introduction of Condor Liberation – the new state-of-the-art fast ferry – and a new 10-year licence to serve the Channel Islands in place, the company says it is the right time to refresh the ‘look and feel’ of the brand.

Three new colours are at the core of the new company identity – dark blue, pink and gold, representing more of a ‘leisure and holiday outlook’. The ribbons will be used on the ships’ hulls as well as on new branding throughout the rest of the company, including the new logo.

A key part of the new brand will be updated uniforms.

The new brand was developed by Bournemouth-based Walker Agency.

Condor’s Strategic Marketing Manager Justin Amey said: “We are delighted to introduce our new brand.

“It is the result of many months of hard work put in by the team here at Condor and also by the team at Walker Agency. It represents a new chapter for Condor Ferries and the Good Times ahead.”
