ALL Saints School pupils put on a performance with the Light Cavalry Band from Bovington.

The band held workshops with 40 pupils at the Wyke Regis school before taking to the stage in front of 180 Year 7 pupils in a combined performance.

The school's head of music Charlotte Musgrove said: "They came down to do a workshop as part of their careers and recruitment programme and we always enjoy their visits.

"It was an opportunity to find out about joining the Army as a musician - and for children who play instruments it was a chance to play with professionals and it gave others the chance to listen to a live band. There were so many different aspects."

The Light Cavalry Band is classed as a wind band with brass, wind instruments and percussion but at the school they also put on a rock performance to get the children dancing with guitars, bass guitars, a keyboard and singer. Miss Musgrove said it was a great success as always - and a group of 25 parents and friends also attended the concert.
