BANK customers in Bridport, Dorchester and Weymouth will be told to visit a different branch following closures.

Woolwich account holders will receive a letter to let them know their branch has moved to Barclays.

It follows a takeover of the company by Barclays made last year Customers at 19 East Street, Bridport will be moving to the Barclays branch at 28 East Street, which is 300 metres or less from their existing branch.

Woolwich customers at 6 Cornhill, Dorchester, will be moving to the Barclays branch at 10 South Street, Dorchester, while customers at 100 St Mary Street, Weymouth, will have to use the Barclays branch at 10 St Mary Street.

Julia Husband, who is a spokeswoman for Barclays, said: "This is good news for our Woolwich customers as they will have access to a wider range of services which will be available to them at more branches throughout the UK.

"Their branch will also be better staffed as their colleagues in the Woolwich branch will also move to Barclays."

The changes are due to take effect on or after May 6.
