RAIL passengers on the Weymouth Waterloo line are facing disruption this weekend as the railway is closed for engineering work.

The line will be closed between Dorchester South and Wareham all day today and tomorrow.

Buses will run between Wareham, Dorchester South and Weymouth, extending journey times by at least 30 minutes.

On Sunday, trains from London Waterloo to Wareham will depart up to 30 minutes early.

Passengers are advised to check with South West Trains before travelling.

The work is part of a programme to maintain and improve the rail network.

More works are planned for the line in the run-up to the Easter holiday break.

Much of this work is done at weekends and during holiday periods, but some work also needs to be done overnight during the week.
