TWO people trapped in a car following a collision in Blandford were rescued by fire crews.

A one vehicle crash closed the road both ways on the A354 in Blandford Forum at approximately 4.30pm today, Saturday February 21.

The A354 south of Blandford remains closed between the Thrornicombe junction and Blandford St Mary roundabout because of the accident.

Two fire crews, one from Blandford and another from Bere Regis, were mobilised to the incident.

On arrival firefighters found two people trapped and another two people who had managed to get free from the vehicle prior to their arrival.

Firefighters used hydraulic rescue equipment to remove the roof of the car.

The two people trapped were released from the vehicle shortly before 5pm. There are believed to be no serious injuries.
